What We’re Up To:

Introducing Our New Website

The Swedemom Center of Giving website has a new look!

It was time for us to update the look and feel of our website as well as redefine our mission and purpose as we support local communities and build a more sustainable future. Read on for an excerpt from our new About Us page.

Our mission is to create financial stability for nonprofits by transforming donated material goods into cash flow. We believe that by equipping nonprofits with the tools and resources they need to process material donations, they can further achieve their missions and drive positive change in their communities.

Our commitment extends beyond support – we strive to create a collaborative ecosystem where nonprofits can work together to find creative solutions within their communities and leverage technology to streamline their operations. Together, we envision a future where every material donation has the potential to support a valuable cause, creating an effective model for growth and transformation that benefits all.

Our purpose is to empower nonprofits by providing essential operational and administrative support, along with access to innovative software solutions that facilitate the sales of donated goods. Through our dedicated partnerships, we aim to create a donation cycle that improves sustainability and promotes a circular economy.

With consumption trends rising globally and resulting in overflowing donation centers, many pre-owned goods are destined to landfills. Our hope is to utilize powerful software solutions to efficiently convert donated goods into sales – giving pre-owned items another chance at life and in turn having the proceeds go right back into local communities through our nonprofit partnerships.

Employee Spotlight

Alexis Dolan has been working for our organization since February of 2024. She is involved in many areas of our nonprofit and a great asset to our team here in McMinnville. We asked her a few questions to get to know her better and find out more about her time here with us so far.

What are your main duties here?

"I work in The Swedemom Store helping customers find unique and fun items for their home. I also do a lot of merchandising from designing displays to organizing merchandise. I try to make the store pleasing to the eye and fun for customers to explore! I help with intaking and imaging items that go into our online store. I assist with making decisions as to which items go online or into the store and assist with items that go to other non-profit partners that we support. Generally I like to help in any way that I can to make the store successful!"

What is something not many people know about you?

"Not many people know that I used to play the piano when I was younger for a long time as well as the harp. I'm very out of practice so I love listening when customers come into the store and play our piano. It's inspired me to start practicing if I ever own a piano again!"

What is something you are passionate about?

"I am passionate about being creative in design with found objects: whether it is coming up with a new idea for a jewelry hanger to making unique curtains to using atypical objects in the landscape."

What is your favorite part of working here?

"I love working in the store, it's given me a wonderful creative outlet that has enriched my life and as a newcomer to town it's given me a great way to meet people."

Thank you for all your hard work, Alexis!

Make sure to go see her and all the amazing items for sale at

The Swedemom Store at 611 NE 3rd Street in McMinnville.

Pass Through Program Spotlight

So far this year we have been able to pass through your donations of men's coats, boots, clothing, and shoes to help support the men at Blanchet Farm. We were able to tour their facility and learn more about the amazing work they're doing there to facilitate addiction recovery. We are grateful to be able to support such a great organization with your donations.

"Blanchet House operates two residential programs for men struggling with addiction, unemployment, mental health, housing, or other challenges. Blanchet House and Blanchet Farm are life renewal work programs in which all residents contribute to the community by fulfilling duties in support of operations.

The men living in the Blanchet House program in downtown Portland assist in the kitchen preparing and serving food. The residents staying at Blanchet Farm in Carlton, Oregon maintain a 62-acre farm, including caring for animals, beehives, a woodshop, and gardens.

We feed nearly 1,000 people a day and house up to 50 men. We have served over 16 million meals to those in need and transitioned 10,000 men back into society.

Blanchet House is recognized as being an exceptional model for providing holistic pathways from homelessness to lasting self-sufficiency. We serve all people with dignity, compassion, and without judgement."

We strive to create a collaborative ecosystem where nonprofits can work together to find creative solutions within their communities and leverage technology to streamline their operations. Together, we envision a future where every material donation has the potential to support a valuable cause, creating an effective model for growth and transformation that benefits all.

With your financial and material donations, we support students in school, individuals struggling with homelessness or lack of resources, elderly folks in care facilities, single parents, and more. We even pass along items to animal shelters! So far in 2024, we have been able to make 115 deliveries, totaling thousands of items, to our nonprofit and pass through partners by passing on your donations of clothing, furniture, kitchen appliances, bedding, towels, cooking supplies, books, school supplies, TVs, craft supplies, medical supplies and so much more. We have donated to organizations like YCAP, Lions Club, First Baptist Church, City Outreach, Hope Closet, Henderson House, A Family Place, Blanchet Farms, Mac High Resource Room, Homeward Bound and more. Thank you for your contribution in our mission of community support and sustainability! Know that your donations truly are making a difference in our community and in the lives of struggling individuals. We couldn't do it without you!

Get Involved

We need your help to support the MacHub mission to purchase mattresses and box springs as Everyone Deserves A Bed.

In our various partnerships with nonprofits in the Yamhill County Oregon area, we have provided beds to those in need since 2018. With the increasing demand, it has come time to reach out to our community for support as we continue our mission to provide local nonprofits with the necessary items for those they serve. While we take physical donations of mattresses and box springs in good usable condition, we find at times this donation stream lacks the volume needed to fulfill all of the requests from partner nonprofits. The funding from this campaign will be used to purchase mattresses and frames and provide beds to those who need them in our community.

Thank you for your support in our mission of community support and sustainability.

Donations to Swedemom Center of Giving and MacHub are tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt upon donation.
